Joint field trips for seed collections in Crete: 8, 9 & 10 July 2014
The Mediterranean Plant Conservation Unit of MAICh organised 3 joint field trips for seed collections in Crete. Laetitia Hugot and Carole Piazza from the Conservatoire Botanique National de la Corse, project partner in Corsica, set out with the MAICh team for some of the last collections to be made for the project in Crete.
Day 1, 8 July: Spina & Palaiochora
Arum cyrenaicum was collected in Spina and Bolanthus creutzburgii subsp. zaffranii was collected in Palaiochora.

Day 2, 9 July: Omalos

Day 3, 10 July, Agia Irini Gorge
Centaurea argentea subsp. macrothysana hanging from the cliffs needed some climbing to reach… The Corsica team was expert in this!

A special patent was needed to collect the seeds (i.e. a fork at the end of a walking stick) © MAICh
